that you’ve made a lasting impression on someone’s life? This is the volunteer role for you!

We are seeking individuals to join our Team Development sub-committee for our upcoming community fundraising event in 2020 benefiting the American Cancer Society. These volunteers help new and existing participants understand what the event is, and how participating can help make a difference in our community and world! Cancer is a disease that has affected far too many people, and our goal is to raise awareness and participation for the cause.

Volunteers can contribute by working together to:

  • Recruit new participants and teams
  • Reach out to different community resources and organizations to encourage involvement
  • Keep participants and teams engaged, interested, and excited about the event
  • Help organize participant informational meetings and Kick-off events
  • Welcome participants at the event, answer general participant questions, and ensure participants are recognized for their achievements

We encourage volunteers to have fun while making a difference and creating a lasting impact on the community!

If you are interested in volunteering, please contact us for more information or to be added to the email distribution list for meeting updates.

About American Cancer Society - Relay For Life

Location:

1120 South Goodman St, Rochester, NY 14620, US

Mission Statement

Relay for Life is the American Cancer Society’s signature event with over 5,200 Relays nationwide. Funds raised from Relay support the American Cancer Society's mission of creating more birthdays through advocacy, research, education and patient & family services.

Description

Relay For Life offers everyone in a community an opportunity to participate in the fight against cancer. Teams of people camp out at a local high school, park, or fairground and take turns walking or running around a track or path. Each team is asked to have a representative on the track at all times during the event. Relays are an overnight event. Teams of people from all walks of life have fun while raising much-needed funds to fight cancer and raise awareness of cancer prevention and treatment.

Relay for Life is a life-changing event that brings together more than 3.5 million people to:

  • Celebrate the lives of those who have battled cancer. The strength of survivors inspires others to continue to fight.
  • Remember loved ones lost to the disease. At Relay, people who have walked alongside people battling cancer can grieve and find healing.
  • Fight Back. We Relay because we have been touched by cancer and desperately want to put an end to the disease.
