Thrive: Women's Empowerment group

Save to Favorites

ORGANIZATION: InterFaith Works of Central New York

A new programming effort being funded by the Women's Fund and offered by Center for New Americans to vulnerable, refugee women, called Thrive. Thrive will focus on providing culturally aware and trauma-informed physical and emotional wellness activities to particularly vulnerable refugee women who have experienced domestic violence. In addition, the Thrive program aims to highlight relevant community resources and information to foster participant’s autonomous decision-making and community engagement. Interpretation, childcare, and transportation will be provided to eliminate common barriers faced by many refugee women when participating in traditional, community support groups that are not tailored towards refugee participants.

Volunteer Commitment: We need volunteers who are willing to attend the weekly sessions and be a mentor. Each volunteer will receive training before the start of the sessions. We also need volunteers for child care during the duration of each session.
