Tutors needed for middle and high school students in various subjects. We are looking for innovative ways to engage and tutor students using the computer labs. We have been using Kahoots and reviewing grades to develop a specific improvement plan tailored to each student but provide assistance to all where the group can learn and take away something new from each student. We are directly working with the school system to bridge the gap between students, parents and teachers to collaborate on the best method for student success. The ideal volunteer will have to be creative and think outside of the box to engage the students and develop improvement policy/plan to help our program move forward and mirror for ongoing tutoring needs. We have a MOU with Clayton County Library systems where if this tutoring system is piloted sufficiently, the process will be mirrored across all Clayton County Libraries where computers labs are available. NVS Building Communities Program would like to seek volunteers that cares intimately for education, students and teachers.

Mission Statement

The Mission of NVS Building Communities Program is to develop the basic life skills knowledge and foster healthy active habits of youth and families through tutoring, basic life skills education and recreations.

Description

The purpose of NVS Building Communities Program is to build youth and families' basic knowledge base for life skills to succeed in everyday circumstances and foster healthy recreational habits to reduce health risks. There is lack of basic skills offered in the schools or communities due to funding and focus on other pressing issues or demands. Various youth and families neglect to participate with recreational activities due to the increased usage of electronics, decrease in access to recreations in their community, cost, transportation, lack of support or other socioeconomic issues.

The proposed solution to these problems is to provide youth and families in our communities with workshops on the topic of nutrition, finances, employment etc. and offer funding assistance, transportation, support and recreational activities. With more trained staff, volunteers, transportation and additional space, we can assist a vast number of youth and families in need of help.
