Volunteer Coordinator Committee Member

Help the organize and recruit volunteer.

Summerfest International Art and Folk Festival is searching for a volunteer coordinator committee member. Summerfest is currently preparing for its 32nd year. This wonderful community event is made possible by our board, staff and wonderful volunteers. BDAC’s Summerfest Committee is comprised of volunteers who use their unique knowledge and skills to help run this event.

Commitment

Attend monthly meetings. Usually, first Tuesday of each month. Attend weekly meetings leading up to the festival. Attend the festival Friday, June 28, 2019 and Saturday, June 29, 2019. Write a post event review of the festival and attend the Post Event Party.

A commitment of 2 festivals is desired. Outgoing committee members move into an advisory position as consultants for a year after their second year. Shorter terms may be considered for special accommodations such as school or internships.

Responsibilities

The Volunteer Coordinator Committee Member is responsible to aid and oversee the following.

  1. Assist in posting volunteer positions on different websites like justserve.org and signupgenius.com.
    1. Provide accurate descriptions of volunteer positions
    2. Recruit volunteers to help with the many needs of Summerfest
  2. Work with local organizations such as the Retired Senior Volunteer Program and local youth groups
    1. Provide information and try to sign up to volunteers who are eligible
    2. Approve volunteer hours for those participating in RSVP
  3. Schedule volunteers and oversee volunteer check in for the festival.
  4. Suggest new ways to improve our volunteer program.
  5. Calculate hours of volunteers and provide a simple report on the volunteer hours served for Summerfest.
    1. Work with committee to decide what additional volunteers are needed
