Youth Basketball League Volunteer Coaches needed!

The City of Placentia is currently in need of coaches for the Placentia Youth Basketball (PYB) League. Players range in age from 5 to 13 years old (Pre-K through 8th grade).

Coaches will run 1 practice each week for 1 hour, and 1-2 games per week.

NOTE: TIMES WILL VARY BASED ON WEEKDAY OR WEEKEND, PRACTICES OR GAMES.

PYB is a Co-Ed recreation league designed for young players who enjoy basketball and friendly competition. Games are held on Saturdays and occasional Friday evenings. Practices are once a week for one hour, and are scheduled based on coach and team availability. Practices are for one hour and are typically Monday through Thursday, 5 pm to 8 pm. Practices are held at either Oberle Gym or Tynes Gym.

Description

Volunteer opportunities exist in the Community Services Department. This Department provides educational, recreational and leisure opportunities for the residents of the community by coordinating,planning and implementing after-school activities for youth and teens, providing classes for all ages, sports programs for youths and adults, and community wide special events. The Division works closely with the School District and several community organizations to plan programs, events, and services in a cost effective manner while at the same time avoiding duplication of services. Major community wide events include the Heritage Festival and Parade and Movies in the Park. The Division manages reservations for City Buildings and picnic shelters as well as schedules, processes, and coordinates athletic field permits and operations for athletic fields in the City.
