Are you athletic, like playing sports with kids, have some Saturday mornings available? We are looking for volunteer sports "Buddies" to have fun and play sports with kids with disabilities. Volunteer as an individual, family or as a team. For more information or to sign up email: sportsbuddiesNC@gmail.com
Program runs every Saturday morning in New Canaan, CT. Share one, two or more Saturdays per month! Volunteers should be 15 years and older. Email with questions.

Sport Buddies is a recreational program for youngsters with special needs designed to enhance the social, physical and emotional well being of children through a fun-filled sports experience. Children of all ability levels are paired with "Buddies" to learn basic sports skills, improve physical condition, experience team dynamics, build self-esteem and have fun!

STAR, Inc., Lighting the Way is a not-for-profit organization serving individuals of all ages with developmental disabilities, as well as providing support services to their families.

We create opportunities for individuals to live full lives with independence, freedom of choice and personal growth by providing support, services and advocacy. We inform and encourage the community to recognize and appreciate the value of all individuals

Description

STAR, Inc. Lighting the Way... serves individuals with developmental disabilities throughout Fairfield County, CT concentrating mainly on Norwalk, Westport, Wilton, Weston, New Canaan and Darien.

We provide Birth to Three programs for children ages 0-3, day services for adults and seniors, job development and training, assistance and advocacy for families of children with developmental disabilities in and out of school-- and transitional help as they enter the work force. We also provide residential assistance and manage several group homes throughout the area.

STAR also provides recreational services for participants, transportation services, family support services, assistance and advocacy to help individuals with developmental disabilities become more independent, and help their families.

STAR holds several large fundraising events each year, and is a strong, active member of the communities where it has offices.
