The Alexandria Community Shelter is a 64-bed Emergency homeless shelter serving adults, families, and children experiencing homelessness in the City of Alexandria. The Shelter provides housing-focused case management, referral services to all clients and assists with developing an individualized plan to address financial stability, increasing employment, assessing for housing type, and assists with how clients can remain permanently housed. ACS is a short term emergency shelter intended to be a short-term housing intervention. Case Management focuses on addressing the family’s or individuals immediate needs (e.g. enrolling in benefits, ensuring children are enrolled in school, etc.). Case Management Services are strength-based and goal oriented and focused on planning for permanent and stable housing.
The Alexandria Community Shelter is in need of a Spanish Speaking Volunteer to translate for clients who are Spanish speaking only in order to help our clients become acclimated to the Shelter and work with Shelter Case Managers to achieve their housing goals and meet some of their basic needs.
