ORGANIZATION: Tacoma Tool Library

  • 4 people are interested

We are seeking qualified and motivated individuals to fill open seats on the TTL board. Tool knowledge is helpful, but not required. Part of our mission is tool education, so don’t worry if you aren’t an expert on household tools.

In aligning with our mission, we expect TTL to be a welcoming and inclusive place, particularly for groups who are not traditionally encouraged to use tools. People from historically marginalized communities are welcome and encouraged to join our board.

If you are excited about what we do, we warmly invite you to become more involved!

A few of the responsibilities include:

  • Attend monthly board meetings, having read that month’s board packet ahead of the meeting. Meetings occur virtually and in person.
  • Commit to at least one 2-year term.
  • Be open to running for an officer position in subsequent term. Office positions include Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary or Treasurer.
  • Participate in at least one of the following sub-committees: Finance, Governance, Operations.
Interested? Take the first step!

Please contact us at governance@tacomatoollibrary.org for more information. A board member will follow up with you soon!

About Tacoma Tool Library

1100 Court F, Tacoma, WA 98402, US

Mission Statement

Tacoma Tool Library lowers the barriers to tackling projects by providing tools, knowledge, space and support so that people can improve their lives. Our work will lead to empowered individuals, increased involvement, reduced consumption, more entrepreneurship, better looking neighborhoods, a stronger sharing economy, and a more resilient community.

The library provides low cost access to shared tools and other durable goods, and encourages re-use, repair, and reduced consumption. In addition, it hosts a safe community space for learning how to use household tools, and empowers Tacoma residents to care for their homes and neighborhoods, house by house and block by block.

Want to borrow tools? It’s easy and low-cost to become a member. Members can borrow any of our 1,700+ available tools-everything from hammer drills to hand weeders-for a week with no charge. Use the tools, clean them, and return them to the library when you’re done. That’s it!

Tacoma Tool Library is fiscally sponsored by Zero Waste Washington.
