POSITION SUMMARY:
Raises community awareness of the hospice concept and philosophy and represents the hospice organization in the community
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Completion of hospice volunteer training program. Program and/or speakers
bureau training as appropriate
Credentials: None
Experience: None
Core Competencies: Accurate knowledge about hospice philosophy, structure, regulatory requirements
and reimbursement factors. Ability to speak comfortably before a group. Good organizational skills and ability to complete tasks. Willing to participate in on-going programs and peer support groups. Make a time commitment of one year to serve a minimum of two hours a week as needed.
Other: Valid driver’s license and auto insurance
REPORTS TO: Volunteer Coordinator
SUPERVISES: None
FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Makes approved presentations to various organizations explaining hospice philosophy, including bereavement services, hospice criteria, etc.
- Solicits and coordinates speaking engagements, upon request.
- Presents oneself in neat, professional attire suitable to the occasion.
- Attends monthly meetings, e.g. hospice continuing education classes, support group, and/or social functions as requested.
- Assists in planning and hosting programs and/or social functions for the hospice community, patients and their families in bereavement.
- Assists with art projects, photography, posters, and development of cards, flyers and/or other special projects.

Description
Hospice care at Universal Health Net is focused on
serving and comforting patients who have a terminal
illness.
We provide a wide range of Hospice care services, including
exceptional medical care to our patients centered upon
providing pain management, comfort and care.
We also offer patients’ families with support services
which are geared towards meeting the needs of friends
and family members, be it social support programs,
illness support programs, or other kinds of assistance.
Our experience also involves bereavement and grief support to
loved ones.
