The Kitchen Assistant acts as the Asst. Kitchen Manager’s assistant during meal service and completes a variety of kitchen tasks throughout the shift. We are currently looking for volunteers to fill our Tuesday shift from 2:45-6:30. Six month commitment is requested. Commercial kitchen experience requested.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist with front line set up prior to meal service
  • Ensure correct temperature of food throughout meal service
  • Monitor food volume on the line throughout meal service, refills the line as necessary and communicate low volumes to Asst. Kitchen Manager
  • Assist in cooking side dishes for the meal in batches
  • Endeavor to complete daily prep list
  • Assist in closing of the kitchen, sweeping, mopping, wiping down counters, & emptying trash cans
  • Participate in pre-service huddle

Requirements

  • Adherence to the dress code for Back of House
  • Possess a food handler’s card
  • General understanding of cooking procedures
  • Must be able lift 40 lbs. and stand for 4 hours
  • Conduct self in a professional and a friendly manner
  • Willingness to follow written and verbal instructions of the Executive Chef and Assistant Kitchen Manager
  • Dependable and punctual
  • Be self-directed, willing to take initiative, and detail-oriented
