Are you outgoing and looking for a community service opportunity in the South Bay this fall? Consider joining us at the Silicon Valley Walk to End Alzheimer's as a Roaming AIM-Advocacy/TrialMatch volunteer!

Walk to End Alzheimer's is the nation's largest events raising critical funds and awareness for Alzheimer's disease research, care, and support. It's also a chance for us to recruit Alzheimer's Impact Movement (AIM) members to support our lobbying efforts for Alzheimer's research funding and legislation to improve supportive services.

In this position you'll report to the Advocacy booth at Walk and will be given a clipboard, pens, and AIM postcards. You will then roam the Walk venue asking as many people as possible to fill out the postcard to get more information on becoming an AIM member and joining TrialMatch: our clinical trial matching service that seeks healthy volunteers and persons with dementia to participate in studies.

Please see the video, below, for more information about a Roaming Advocate's responsibilities on Walk day:

This position is IDEAL for service groups, college level students, and those interested in government.

If you are interested in volunteering in this role, please email Tessie Calligeros at tcalligeros@alz.org or call 408.372.9916.

Mission Statement

The Alzheimer's Association is the leading voluntary health organization in Alzheimer care, support and research. Our mission: To eliminate Alzheimer's disease through the advancement of research; to provide and enhance care and support for all affected; and to reduce the risk of dementia through the promotion of brain health. Our vision, A world without Alzheimer's disease.

Description

We provide programs and support services for patients, families, caregivers, and others in the San Francisco Bay Area affected by Alzheimer's disease and related disorders. Outside the federal government, the Alzheimer's Association is the largest research funder in the country and offers advocacy opportunities to make public policy change.

At the Alzheimer's Association, diversity and inclusion are vital to our mission. The Association leads strategic initiatives to support diversity and a culture of inclusivity. These strategic initiatives also strengthen outreach to all populations, providing communities with resources and support to address the Alzheimer’s crisis. By partnering with organizations locally and nationally to advance diversity and inclusion, the Association can broaden its reach in all communities.
