Girls' Stomp & Shake Cheer Coach - New Jersey

The SoulDeevas Performing Arts Company is looking for two experienced and creative instructors to serve as the inaugural coaches for our Girls' Stomp & Shake Cheer Team. We anticipate holding auditions for the team in December or January and will include girls in grades 5 to 12. The team will practice for three Saturdays each month from 6:00pm to 8:00pm and we can explore other schedules once the teams are up and running.

Stomp & Shake cheerleading developed in the South in the late 1970's and has widely been termed the "African American Style of cheerleading". Like traditional cheerleading teams, Stomp & Shake cheerleaders motivate their sports teams, raise the enthusiasm of hands and use dance/stepping aesthetics in their routines. The SoulDeevas are being trained to represent the Northeast in a variety of genres, emphasizing scholarship, sisterhood and soul. The team will run from now until July and will then reconvene in September. The goal is to attract about 15 girls.

The coaches should be prepared to develop routines for competitions/performance opportunities and should expect that the girls who will register will be beginners. We are looking for individuals who will be able to hold down a classroom and quickly establish a routine for their team. Our ultimate goal is to be able to grow the company in such a way that our coaching staff will eventually become "stipended".
