Would you like to be a companion to a Resident and go with them to their Dr. appointments? You will be a friendly face and companion to the Resident during the time of the Dr. visit. Build a friendship with a Resident that has no family members available to be with them during this time.
The appointments will be in the mornings or early afternoons Monday to Friday.
You will come to the Rose Blumkin Jewish Home and meet up with our driver and the Resident and ride along to their appointment. Our driver will pick you and the Resident back up after the appointment and you will return to the home. You will not have to move the Resident in or out of the wheelchair, all lifting will be done by either the Rose Blumkin Home trained staff or the Dr. office staff. You will only need to be pushing the wheelchair in and out of the Dr.'s office as needed. We will provide you with a quick wheelchair training, and all other necessary information during the orientation. The Volunteer Coordinator will notify you of the dates and times of the appointments, and the time you need to be here at the home.
At this time a COVID Antigen (quick, non-invasive) test will be performed, and a mask must be worn at all times around the Resident.

Our mission is to fulfill the Mitzvah of "Mipnei Seivah Takem - You shall rise and show respect to the aged"
Shalom. Welcome. The Rose Blumkin Jewish Home has been regarded as a premier long-term facility in Omaha for decades. We were just awarded the rare and coveted Five Star Rating from both the State of Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services and Medicare.gov. These ratings, which are well above the Sate and National average, are truly a testament to the quality of care we provide to our Residents. We continually strive to meet the high expectation of our clients by providing exceptional services and programs. We take tremendous pride in our well-trained, experienced Care Teams and professional staff. Our reputation for quality is built on the strength of our nursing department. While we welcome Residents of diverse backgrounds and faiths, the Blumkin Home is a uniquely Jewish setting. Emphasis is placed on Jewish community. The Home follows Kosher dietary standards, certified by the Va'ad HaKashrut of Omaha. All meals are prepared and served in accordance with Jewish dietary laws. Daily activities and special events keep Residents mentally and physically stimulated. Whether you're at the Home for a short or long stay, rest assured there will be plenty to keep you busy.
