The American Red Cross provides blood and blood products for almost 40% of the American public. Volunteer Medical Screeners screen and examine blood donor candidates to approve or defer for donation. Volunteers should have experience in the medical field and have day time availability. Extensive training will be provided.

The commitment to become a Volunteer Medical Screener (VMS) can be a heavy lift upfront, once you have completed the certified training you will experience incredible rewards.
The VMS Training is a highly regulated process and therefore, you will be required to complete 3 1/2 weeks of training between 8:00 am - 5:00 pm EST daily. Ongoing training will be required as needed for maintaining your regulatory compliance.
Once fully trained, your monthly commitment is a minimum of 2 shifts per month totaling 5-10 hours.
Our need for volunteers is constant and our guidelines reflect the latest CDC safety recommendations and follow the national and local government laws. COVID-19 vaccination is strongly encouraged.
