There is gender gap in STEM fields. Overwhelmingly, men represent the majority of careers in STEM and computer science today. Our program helps to fill in the gender gap by providing hands-on workshops on computer science to young girls. Please visit us at https://girlcoders.net to learn more about our program.
We are seeking people to design the curriculum for our workshops. The workshops are two hour long, fun, and require no coding experience. The curriculum includes, but does not limit to:
- Thunkable
- Raspberry Pi
- Swift
- Swift Playground
- C++
- SQL
- Git
- Illustrator
- Unity
- Wearable Tech
- Kodu
- R
- Matlab
- PhP

Mission Statement
Girl Coders combats the gender gap by offering coding workshops to encourage girls to experience STEM. By introducing girls to STEM and building a supporting community, we foster girls to become industry leaders and create gender parity in STEM.
Description
Girll Coders is a program that combats the gender gap by offering entry-level coding workshops to encourage young girls in K-12 to experience STEM in positive, empowering ways. Any adult volunteer can host the workshop for free in their local community, such as through an after-school program or Girl Scout troop. No coding experience is necessary for the volunteers or girls; each workshop, available for a variety of popular and widely-used coding languages and tools, is designed to be accessible and self-contained. After completing a workshop, all girls receive an embroidered patch to wear on their uniforms or a sticker to proudly display on their laptop covers.
