Arizona Heritage Center

The Arizona Heritage Center is looking for volunteer Docents for President George W. Bush's Portraits of Courage: A Commander In Chief's Tribute To America's Warriors exhibition opening October 19th and closing December 29th, 2018.The exhibition is being hosted by The Arizona Historical Society, in partnership with the Sandra Day O’Connor Institute, at the Arizona Heritage Center located in Tempe, Arizona. Portraits of Courage brings together sixty-six full-color portraits and a four-panel mural painted by President Bush of 98 service members and veterans who have served our nation with honor since 9/11. The exhibition grew out of President George W. Bush’s personal commitment and the ongoing work of the Bush Institute’s Military Service Initiative. Volunteer Docents are needed for school field trips, adult tours and exhibit floaters. School tours are held M-F from 10-11:30am. The age range of school tour visitors ranges from 2nd grade through 12th grade. School tours are more structured than adult tours, but Docents interested in leading school tours and adult tours will receive similar training. We are also looking for individuals interested in acting as floaters in the exhibition, although they will not be scheduled to lead a tour, they will be present in the exhibit space and engage with visitors answering questions and sharing information about the exhibition with visitors.
