Volunteers are an essential part of the Family Nurturing Center program and are vital to our ability to offer services to families in Jackson and Josephine counties! Classroom volunteers help in a variety of ways including assisting in the classrooms with group and individual-child activities, reading to children, helping the teachers with clean up and set up, playing with kids on the playground, and supporting the social and emotional development of each child.
Our classroom volunteers offer direct support to our preschool teachers and help our children form strong bonds of trust with their peers, their teachers, and the learning environments around them. Classroom volunteers meet with the Volunteer Coordinator and go through an orientation process with our Clinical Director before they start volunteering.
All volunteers and staff must complete a background check through the state in order to be considered for this opportunity. We ask that volunteers commit to volunteering with the same group of children at least once a week for no less than 6 months.

The purpose of the Family Nurturing Center (FNC) is to prevent child abuse and neglect.
- We help parents keep their children safely within their own families.
- We support children as they heal from difficult life experiences.
- We wrap an array of services around families in crisis helping them rebuild their lives and raise healthy and thriving children.
Families come to the Family Nurturing Center to get the help they need. An array of comprehensive services, both center based and outreach, support families as they deal with the challenges of raising healthy, compassionate and successful children.
