Ukulele Class Instructor or Assistant Instructor

Volunteer Duties:
* Helping set up the Community Room,
* turning the ukuleles before class,
* and cleaning up after class.
* This may also include organizing the ukulele music binders.
Volunteer Qualifications:
* Ability to play the ukulele at the intermediate level or above.
* Ability to communicate with for older children, tweens, and teens in a positive way.
* This volunteer position is for adults and teens ages 15 and older.
* Complete a fingerprint background check, at no cost to you. Only required if you are 18 years or older. The background check is performed free, by the City of San Jose.
Schedule:
The schedule is flexible. We are looking at having weekly ukulele classes for older children, tweens, and teens.
Time Commitment: 1-2 hours per week for six months or longer. Schedule depends upon Community Room availability and librarian schedule.

You can make a positive difference in the lives of young people Learning a musical instrument can help students reach academic success and foster their ability to succeed in school.
Volunteers will have the opportunity to teach young people ages 8-17. Most students are likely to be in either elementary school or middle school.

Description
Public libraries in California seek to engage the talents, skills and commitment of volunteers to serve the communities' information and literacy needs. Libraries offer a variety of skilled volunteer opportunities to make a meaningful contribution to library programs, operations, fundraising events and other community engagement functions. Skilled volunteers have opportunities to lead projects, work with teams of staff and volunteers, learn new skills, and have fun.
