Support the American Red Cross! Become a Red Cross Volunteer Screener and help people share their time and talents in supporting our vital lifesaving services.

• Interview prospective volunteer candidates about their interests, schedule availability, experience, and skills to assess and help volunteers chose which positions they are best suited for.
• Schedules and conducts volunteer screenings (phone or in-person) with prospective volunteers.
• Prepares for each screening interview (i.e. reads a candidate’s application questionnaire and the corresponding position description they are applying for)
• Asks questions, from script during the screening interview, appropriate to the responsibilities and qualifications for the volunteer position requested.
• Provides prospective volunteers with information about the intake, referral and placement process.
• Helps match volunteers to positions for which they are best suited, based upon their skills, interest, availability and current available opportunities.
• Updates Volunteer Connection, our online volunteer database system, with candidate information.

Screening Volunteers will be asked to volunteer a minimum of one shift per week.

• Comfortable making phone calls to volunteers and conducting short screening interview
• Ability to work with computer database (training provided)
• Excellent oral communication skills - ability to express ideas and facts clearly
• Attention to detail
• Previous experience with customer service is beneficial
• HR experience or experience conducting interviews a plus
