Volunteer Position: Donation/Storage Room Volunteer

Purpose of Position: Volunteer will assist victims of domestic violence by receiving, sorting and preparing donation for distribution to shelters and nonresidential sites.

Volunteer Commitment: This position is a weekly commitment of 3-4 hours at TWSH

Principle Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Assist with the sorting, display and storage of donations (clothing, food, household items, etc.)
  • Submission of Volunteer Timesheet after each shift
  • Periodically communicate with program staff to assess the needs of each location
  • Ensure confidentiality at all times
  • Contact staff as far in advance as possible if unable to provide assistance
  • Other duties as negotiated

Qualifications and characteristics:

  • Successful completion of 48-hour training class encouraged but not required, 2 Hour DV101 required
  • Ability to work in a multicultural settings
  • Must be friendly, patient and possess excellent organizational skills
  • Maintain a supportive, empowering and non-judgmental attitude with victims of domestic violence
  • Dependable, prompt and mature
  • Organizational skills
  • Ability to perform physical activity
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Willingness to accept supervision and guidance
