Summary

School Group is currently seeking a Human Resources Director to head our human resources department. The human resource director will strategize and manage the overall hiring, administration, coordination and evaluation of the human resource function in School Group. The incumbent will be responsible for promoting and implementing human resources values by planning and managing human resources programs and directing staff engagement activities. The individual will also take the lead on developing organizational strategies by identifying and researching human resources issues.

Responsibilities

  • Supports management by providing human resources direction, advice and counsel.
  • Develops organization strategies by identifying and researching human resources issues, contributing information, analysis and recommendations to organization strategic thinking and direction, establishing human resources objectives in line with organizational objectives
  • Complies with federal, state and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislations, anticipating legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, advising management as needed actions
  • Guides School Group by developing, writing and updating policies, procedures, methods and guidelines; communicating and enforcing organizational values.
  • Implements human resources strategies by establishing department accountabilities, including talent acquisition, staffing, training and development, records management and retention.
  • Manages human resources operations including recruitment, staffing, on-boarding, succession planning, training, coaching, counseling, monitoring, appraising and reviewing job contributions; designing strategies and implementing requisite changes
  • Ability to coach and mentor team members through the process of understanding the needs and responsibilities of human resources
  • Coordinates or conducts exit interviews to determine reasons behind separations.
  • Consults with legal counsel as appropriate, or as directed by the CEO, on personnel matters.
  • Works directly with department managers to assist them in carrying out their responsibilities on personnel matters.
  • Develops and maintains a human resource information system that meets the organization's personnel information needs.
  • Participates on committees and special projects and seeks additional responsibilities.

Required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

  • A bachelor’s degree required; Masters in Human Resources preferred

  • Seven or more years of human resources experience

  • Current or previous experience in an HR Manager role preferred

  • Ability and attitude to learn and adapt new technologies; familiarity with slack, wiki, jira and confluence a plus

  • Transparent and high integrity leadership

  • Strong organizational abilities including planning, delegating, program development and task facilitation

  • Ability to convey a vision of School Group’s strategic future to staff, board, volunteers and donors

  • Skills to collaborate with and motivate board members and other volunteers

  • Strong written and oral communication skills

  • Ability to interface and engage diverse volunteer and donor groups

  • Demonstrated ability to oversee and collaborate with staff

  • Multi-lingual will be a plus

Supervisory Responsibility

This position manages all volunteers of the HR department and is responsible for the performance management and hiring of the volunteers within that department.
