Seeking an attorney with experience in the nonprofit sector and a passion for helping animals.
Assist the board with matters needing legal expertise that includes, but is not limited to: Contracts, Real Estate, Trusts & Estates, Compliance With Regulations, Employment, Finance/Lending, Adherence to legal code as a not for profit, and as needed legal advice.
Candidate will serve as an advisory to our board. This is an unpaid, volunteer position.

The Associated Humane Societies, founded in 1906, is the largest animal sheltering system in New Jersey. Our three shelters are located in Newark, Forked River, and Tinton Falls. Our Forked River facility also includes Popcorn Park, which was established in 1977 as a sanctuary for abandoned, injured, ill, exploited, abused or elderly wildlife, birds, exotic and farm animals. The Society is a not for profit, 501 (c) 3 organization, and Popcorn Park is also a federally licensed zoo.

Mission Statement
To consistently provide the highest quality of care to all animals, domestic and wildlife, including their rescue, housing, veterinary care, placement whenever possible, and when required, a peaceful end. It is also our mission to prevent cruelty to all animals, primarily in New Jersey, but also throughout the United States. This shall be done through direct intervention as well as the promotion of humane education regarding the proper care and treatment of animals at both public and private levels, thereby advancing the humane treatment of animals everywhere.
