ORGANIZATION: Youth Tutoring Program

Do you support educational equity? Are you looking for a way to serve your community but can’t seem to find the time in your busy schedule? The Youth Tutoring Program offers a meaningful way for you to give back with only a one hour per week minimum commitment!

YTP offers free, one-to-one tutoring for approximately 70 students grades 1-12 in Lake City's low-income housing community, at the Jackson Park Tutoring Center. We serve a diverse group of students, 99% of whom are children of color and the majority of whom come from immigrant and refugee families. We build individualized tutoring plans for each unique student with a focus on skill building so our students can catch-up and get ahead in school. We need dedicated and caring tutors like you to tutor students 1:1 and foster meaningful mentoring and tutoring relationships.

No teaching experience is necessary- not only do we train our volunteers to be effective tutors, we provide our volunteers with the tools they need to make a difference!

Jackson Park tutoring hours are:
Monday and Wednesday 4:20-5:20, 5:30-6:30, and 6:40-7:40
Tuesday and Thursday 5:30-6:30, and 6:40-7:40

Volunteers sign up for at least one hour per week, and are asked to commit to volunteering for six months.

School year tutoring begins in September! Apply now and help students start the year off strong!
