Seeking volunteer that will visit with our hospice patients. They are in private homes or nursing facilities. We are seeking volunteers who enjoy visiting, reviewing the life of the patient, what they enjoy doing, trying to give them companionship, because many are alone and not all have visitors.
Volunteers need to be able to visit at least once a week, follow up with Volunteer Coordinator with visit details, and enjoy providing help to the patient. Some patients are bed bound, some patients have memory issues, but meeting the patient where they are at in life with no opinion, just be a friend and show kindness to other people. Some can walk, some use wheelchairs, but maybe go outside and sit in the sun, or help plan flowers, start a small garden, maybe decorate their rooms, you really do not know what the patient might be capable of doing or want to do, so be open to trying something new. Some patients are able to play games, and they love Bingo, or they love Coffee, and want to join the activities of the facility and no one will come to take them to the activities. You can make a difference in many ways.
We do want to tell you that facilities may ask you to take a COVID test or wear a mask, to be able to enter, however, if you are not vaccinated and don't want to be, we have a simple form for you to complete and you are welcome to come volunteer with our team

Description
Providing care and comfort to patients. Opportunities include direct patient visitation and administrative support. We provide feedback to schools for volunteer credit. We provide internships for those in nursing and social work. Travel will be limited, with the exception of internships, which may be only to visit different sites. Our goal is to provide companionship as well as socialization to those who express desire to have a volunteer visit. Our scope of activities may be limitless, we help with light housekeeping, running errands, helping with activities, quiet time to reflect and hear life experiences.
