Food Shelf Client Hosts
Do you want to help provide food to people who have a need? Do you like working directly with people? Then supporting clients in our Food Shelf is perfect for you!
The Details:
Days:
- Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 9:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
- Mondays 12:00 - 2:00 p.m.
- Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:30 - 7:00 p.m.
- Thursdays 2:00 - 4:00 p.m.
We need 12 volunteers daily to help host our clients in our food shelf.
Key Responsibilities: Welcome clients into the food shelf and direct them while they shop, assisting with item selection and bagging. Stock the shelves and maintain area cleanliness and organization. Respect client confidentiality.
Supervised by: Josh Cobb, our fabulous Program Coordinator!
Training: Ya sure, you betcha there will be training. Training will happen on your first day of volunteering.
What do you need to bring? Smiles, kindness, patience, a non-judgmental attitude, sensitivity to the needs of others first, respectful of all. Oh yeah, and wear closed-toe, comfy shoes. It’s for health and safety reasons and it’s a concrete floor...
What’s in it for you? The knowledge that you will help feed people who come to shop at the food shelf. HUGE!!!! You will make it happen! You will make a difference in the lives of our clients each and every time you volunteer. You will receive acknowledgement from staff, volunteers and clients that you are a fabulous part of our team at Valley Outreach. Maybe make new friends and have fun while you work!

Valley Outreach is a bridge between the crisis of the moment and the solution of the future. We help our St. Croix Valley neighbors in need of food, clothing, emergency financial assistance, and other support while respecting their individual dignity and offering them encouragement and hope.
Description
What started as the St. Croix Valley Emergency Food Shelf in 1983 has grown into the place our neighbors turn to during challenging times. Today Valley Outreach is the only non-profit in the valley that provides clients with a range of support - whether they need food, clothing, and personalized client services.
We’ve learned a lot in 35 years, but nothing more important than this: everybody needs help. And as long as there is need, Valley Outreach will be here - taking care of our community, and making us all a little healthier, stronger and more stable.
Valley Outreach is a community based, community-supported, privately funded non-profit organization serving our St. Croix Valley neighbors in need of food, clothing, and emergency financial assistance. Our Food Shelf provides food and other necessities. The Clothing Closet provides gently used clothing at no cost to men, women and children. Our Emergency Fund provides emergency financial assistance to help families in crisis.
