The American Museum of Western Art is seeking volunteer docents to lead highlight tours, with a commitment of 1-2 tours/month (each tour lasts approximately 1.5-2 hours). Training is offered at each volunteer's pace as a mentorship with the Museum Educator, and all materials and sample tour scripts are provided in both physical and electronic form (a binder and PDFs). We also provide the transcript of our audio guide and unlimited observation tours.

The Museum is open on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 10:00am to 4:30pm. We offer docent-led tours featuring the highlights of the collection twice a day as well as audio-guides for guests to explore the museum at their own pace. Because the Museum is a permanent exhibition, we offer programs throughout the year to provide new perspectives on the collection. Once docents have given regular highlight tours of the galleries for at least 1 year, they are invited to give special programs, themed tours, or talks depending on their availability and desire.
