ORGANIZATION: JUNIOR ACHIEVEMENT OF CHICAGO

  • 3 people are interested

We are excited to provide you the opportunity to become involved in your local community. The time commitment is minimal- 3 to 3 1/2 hours, you can choose the day, time, town and age group! We have many ongoing opportunities during the school year throughout all of DuPage County. The positive impact you will have on the children can be tremendous!

Junior Achievement has been empowering students for the last 100 years! Our mission is to educate and inspire young people to succeed in a global economy. JA has turn-key volunteer kits bring hands-on, age-appropriate programs to the students, and easy to follow lessons that stress the relevance of school to success later in life. In other words, JA brings economics to life!

Junior Achievement provides complete training, including step-by-step guidance in using the grade-specific classroom materials. Teachers remain in the classroom while the volunteer is there and JA staff provides continuing support. There is no required background or education required -- we just need enthusiastic volunteers over the age 18.

We hope you’ll consider becoming a JA volunteer and give youngsters a glimpse at their future today!

Mission Statement

JA of Chicago's volunteer-delivered, kindergarten-12th grade programs foster work-readiness, entrepreneurship and financial literacy skills, and use experiential learning to inspire students in our community to dream big and reach their potential.

Description

Junior Achievement empowers students to succeed in the future by providing free educational programs from Kindergarten through 12th Grade. JA's innovative and experiential programs are based on work readiness, entrepreneurship and financial literacy and align directly with educational curriculum standards. JA brings volunteers from the business and community into the classroom to bring these relevant and fun economics of life lessons to the students. It is that link to the "real world" in the classroom that brings volunteers, students and educators together for success! In DuPage County this year, we are on target to empower over 4,000 classes and more than 85,000 students. We've been able to continually expand our program every year thanks largely in part to our loyal JA partners and volunteers.
