ORGANIZATION: Random Acts of Flowers

Position Summary:

Floral Prep is RAF’s process of sorting and organizing donated flowers from wholesale florists, grocery stores, memorials, weddings, and events to ensure that all new bouquets are created from the freshest flowers possible.

During floral prep shifts, volunteers disassemble donated arrangements, trim the ends of all flowers, and place similar types or colors of flowers in buckets in the cooler for the next floral arranging volunteer shift. Flowers that will not last more than 5 days are composted.

About You:

  • Enthusiastic and passionate about RAF mission
  • Positive attitude and willingness to take direction and feedback from shift leaders
  • Flexible working with recycled flowers and willingness to adjust shift tasks to accommodate needs of the delivery schedule
  • Willingness and ability to clean workshop throughout and at the end of every shift, including:
    • Sweeping
    • Cleaning tables
    • Taking out garbage and compost
    • Dumping, rinsing and stacking floral buckets
  • Able to lift and carry up to 20lbs

Application Steps:

  • Attend floral prep training session
  • Participate in 1 floral prep mentor session

Schedule:

  • Mondays: 12:30-3:30pm
  • Mondays: 3:30-5pm
  • Wednesdays: 12:30-3:30pm
