All of our volunteer opportunities have been filled. Thank you so much for caring and we hope to see you next year!
This is a hands-on event, with interactions with our homeless neighbors. We will set up backpacks with scarves, and hoodies. There will then be one-on-one distributions as you help the guests go through choosing their backpacks, and hoodies. Children 10 years old and older are welcome as long as they are accompanied by a parent and are not left unattended (for children who are younger, please contact Kathy Acre and Kathy@BACKatYOU.org). Volunteers who took part last year had their lives changed...hope you will say the same this year!
As we have in the past, we will have a get together at Schlafly Taproom immediately following this event. This is a family friendly venue. Because we use all of our funds to help our homeless neighbors, we are unable to supply food or drink, but we do offer a wonderful opportunity to talk to those who have taken part in the event and share stories and experiences. We always have a good crowd and hope that you can join us.

BACK@YOU was created to help open people’s eyes to those that so many of us walk blindly by each day. The homeless are not invisible, and we should not act as if they don’t exist. We all deserve to be treated with dignity and kindness. None of us is less of a person for not having a home. With those principles as our guide, we simply fill backpacks with some essential supplies and basic comforts to share with our homeless neighbors, and our volunteers distribute these backpacks. We make each of our backpacks to show its recipient that someone cares. They may be small gestures in the grand scheme of things, but they are filled with love.
