Join the Connecticut Chapter of the Appalachian Mountain Club (CT-AMC) on Saturday, September 29 at 9 a.m as they celebrate the Appalachian Trail by devoting a day to its stewardship. All are welcome, no experience is needed!

The group will be meeting at the Schaghticoke Rd trailhead, south of Kent, Connecticut and west of Bulls Bridge, Connecticut at 9 a.m. The work will include clearing drainage features that help to prevent erosion of the Trail, as well as clipping back overgrown vegetation on the sides of the Trail. From Georgia to Maine, volunteers work extremely hard to keep the Appalachian Trail accessible for all hikers to enjoy.

Be sure to wear long pants, sturdy boots, and gloves. Also be sure to bring a rain jacket, bug spray, sunscreen, snack and a lunch to eat on the Trail, and plenty of water for the day. Loppers/clippers will be provided but it is encouraged that you bring your own if you have them.

Mission Statement

The Appalachian Trail Conservancy’s mission is to protect, manage, and advocate for the Appalachian National Scenic Trail.

Description

Appalachian Trail (A.T.) is a project built on civic engagement. It exists because people like you step up and help out in a variety of ways, outdoors or inside. Activities can be physical (such as Trail work or boundary maintenance), creative (like contributing photography or writing), or organizational (like planning or leading activities).

Volunteers gain new skills through their work. Whether you volunteer because you enjoy time in nature, want to forge new friendships, or appreciate having a deeper connection to a place you hold in high regard, we are glad you are here.

There are a variety of ways to contribute your talents and your time.
