Gathered with friends, family and community members, your local Making Strides Against Breast Cancer is the place to come together to honor breast cancer survivors, remember loved ones lost, and take action to end suffering and death from a disease that has already taken too much.

But, did you know it's an also an incredibly important place to advocate for breast cancer issues? Surrounded by people who are so passionate about the fight against breast cancer, this event provides an unparalleled setting for advancing ACS CAN’s lifesaving breast cancer work.

We're looking for passionate volunteers like you to lead advocacy activities at your event. It's impactful, fulfilling and fun! ACS CAN staff provide the tools, resources and training you need to be highly successful.

Our advocacy activities include:
  • Asking people to sign petitions to Congress on issues like increasing federal funding for breast cancer research and ensuring all women have access to lifesaving mammograms
  • Managing the ACS CAN booth with fun and educational activities before the Making Strides walk gets started

Are you ready for a new and rewarding challenge at your Making Strides Against Breast Cancer? Maybe you just want to learn a little more?

Fill out our application and we'll have our lead advocacy volunteer contact you about this exciting opportunity.

Mission Statement

If we are to end suffering and death from cancer, it won't just happen in the doctor's office or research lab. This movement must start at the statehouse and in Congress. And, it will be led by volunteers - regular people whose lives have been impacted by cancer - rallying together to demand change from their elected officials. We are the organization empowering volunteers to do just that - influence change and impact the future of cancer. From gaining dramatic increases in funding for cancer research to ensuring all Americans have access to cancer care, our work is saving lives and leading to new innovative breakthroughs in how to fight this disease.

Description

Here at ACS CAN Alaska, we fight for laws that help cancer patients and prevent cancer. We do this with the help of dedicated volunteers from all across our state. Join us in making a difference for Alaskans now and for years to come!
