Darfur Women Action Group (DWAG) is taking a unique approach to fighting and preventing genocide. DWAG believes that empowering the groups most impacted and building strong leadership among those who are historically excluded to enable them to lead and foster positive change in their communities is the best approach to sustainably ending genocide.
DWAG is currently seeking interested individuals to assist in the preparation of its upcoming National Annual Symposium. Volunteers are expected to work remotely within the US or they can come to the office occasionally, it depends, have experience, or be willing to assist with outreach and promotion of the vent Volunteering will be remotely from now until October 25, 2019. Volunteers can attend the symposium on October 26, 27 and participate in lobby meetings on 28th.
Volunteers will be granted free admission to DWAG’s symposium.
DWAG Outreach Main Responsibilities:
- To participate in a pre-Symposium conference call
- Reaching out to organizations and individuals to help promote the symposium and DWAG’s work
- Using social media to share information with as many networks as possible
- Outreach to media
- Symposium promotion through social media
- To be present at the symposium to participate in one of the many organizing tasks
- Actual organizing and facilitation of some activities during the symposium
Qualifications:
- Must be 18+
- Community outreach skills
- Networking skills
- Social media skills (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.)
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Organization skills
Ideal for:
- High school and College students, or recent graduates
- Individuals, activists, or those interested in serving a good cause
- Development professionals, retired professionals, or working professionals wanting to use a small portion of their time to serve a good cause

Our Mission Darfur Women Action Group (DWAG) is a U.S. based Darfuri women-led anti-atrocities organization. DWAG works with victims and survivors of the Darfur genocide in the Diaspora and back home in Sudan, providing them with more access to the tools that will enable them to lead the effort in combatting violence, addressing massive human rights abuses in their society, and working with others to prevent future atrocities and promote global peace. The core priority for Darfur Women Action Group lies in advancing the human rights of and supporting the Darfuri to meet the challenges of the 21st Century. We do this by supporting women rights and empowerment NGOs at the grassroots and national level in the U.S. and on the ground in Darfur, building their capacity to lead desirable change and provide opportunities for the international community to hear directly from those most affected by conflict.

We believe this is a vital approach to ending genocide and achieving sustainable peace.
DWAG is currently seeking interested interns and/or volunteers who are willing to help advance the goals the organization is striving to achieve.
Internships are available for undergraduate, graduate students, and recent graduates who are available for at least 10-20 hours per week for a 3-month long work commitment.
