The Canadian Cancer Society is looking for a community leader wanting to give back in big way by joining the Daffodil Dash Committee as the Community Engagement Committee Lead.
Leading the outreach on behalf of this event, you and your team will connect with the community to develop new relationships with potential participants and sponsors from organizations that will enhance the event and the profile of the Canadian Cancer Society in the area. As the Lead, you will manage existing relationships with our generous supporters and empower your committee to connect with local businesses, schools, community groups and centers, and other public groups.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversee the creation of a list of prospects to connect with during the planning of the event
- Lead the committee in setting outreach goals and plan the best way to connect with the community
- Manage existing relationships with supporters and ensure that the appropriate recognition takes place
- Supervise the ongoing outreach (and step in as necessary) to sponsors and potential participants
- Work with the Daffodil Dash Leadership to ensure seamless event execution and sponsor stewardship
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience leading sponsorship outreach, volunteer leadership, or event planning
- Excellent team leadership, delegation, communication, and time management skills
- Confident in public speaking and developing sponsorship materials
- Comfortable attending public events to promote the Daffodil Dash
Volunteers must be at least 19 years of age for this position.
TRAINING & SUPPORT
- Volunteer Handbook provided by the Volunteer Engagement team
- Role-specific training with the addition of online resources available for review
- Regular meetings with the Staff Partner and experienced Committee Leads
COMMITMENT
- 2-4 hours/week with a higher level of commitment from February to April
- Attendance at monthly committee meetings, community events, set-up, and take-down of the event
- Ability to respond to emails/requests within a reasonable timeframe (12 - 24 hours)

The Canadian Cancer Society was officially formed in 1938, but the seeds for the Society were planted back in 1929 when the Saskatchewan Medical Association formed the country’s first cancer committee.
Today, the Society is the largest national charitable funder of cancer research in Canada. The Society makes more impact, against more cancers, in more communities, than any other cancer charity in Canada.
