Volunteer to spread holiday cheer at the Historic Herndon Home Museum, home of Atlanta's First Black Millionaire! We are in need of volunteers to wrap "presents" and decorate the 15 Christmas trees that will be placed in each room of the home. Holiday music to be provided! We have two dates and times available for sign up.
Volunteer Schedule:
Friday, November 16: 4pm - 6pm
Monday, November 19: 10am - 12pm

Mission Statement

The mission if the Herndon Home is to highlight the significance of a prominent African American family in the early twentieth century. Through educational outreach and interpretation, The Herndon Home tells the story of slave born Alonzo F. Herndon , his family, and his struggle for success in establishing Atlanta Life Insurance Company.

Description

The Herndon Home is open for tours on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and accepts large groups on Saturdays.Tours consist of schools and colleges, churches, family reunions, and civic groups. Individuals unfamiliar with the legacy are invited as well.

The Home is also available for private events, and hosts its own events in February, April, and December. Staff and volunteers are encouraged to participate in a community service activity offered in August.

The Herndon Family Collection, Martin Palmer Family Collection, and the Atlanta Life Insurance Company Collection are all housed within the museum. The public is welcomed to visit and conduct research.
