ORGANIZATION: Natural History Museum of Utah

Logo

The Natural History Museum of Utah's signature youth program, Youth Teaching Youth (YTY), helps under reached student populations to develop their science skills and teach those skills to younger students. We need volunteers to spark curiosity and excitement for science and education in students participating in the YTY program. As a YTY Mentor volunteer, you will be able to play a part in igniting a child's life-long passion for science and education. You'll gain valuable experience working with children, and get specialized training to learn to mentor young educators.

YTY Mentor volunteers will assist staff and YTY Program high school participants in engaging program middle school students in weekly science training and activities. Volunteers will help high school participants manage small groups, help facilitate the middle school students' development of science processing and teaching skills, and model enthusiasm for learning.

Please note: the location for this position is at Glendale Middle School, not at the Museum. Transportation from the Museum to Glendale can be provided if needed.
