Join Anoka Community Connect on Thursday September 19th to bring community resources together in one place to provide opportunities for people to thrive. In 2018, 59 individuals received access to services and resources they otherwise wouldn't have had.
The event will start at 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM on September 19th at Church of St. Timothy, 707 89th Ave. NE Blaine. The goal of Anoka Community Connect is to provide guests who may be struggling with homelessness, or are previously housed, the opportunity to be connected to resources and services. Haircuts, wellness checks, resume building, application assistance for benefits and childcare, and a job fair where employers will hire people on the spot are some of the services that will be offered.
Partners will provide transportation - stops will be made around the county at public buildings to ensure everyone who wants to attend has a way to get to the event.
This event would not be possible without volunteers to be navigators who help participants go from one station to another or hold their spot in line for services. All volunteers wear a favorite shade of purple or a Vikings shirt/jersey to be easily located. Volunteers are also needed to hand out boxed lunches, welcome participants at the registration table or help with roving clean-up throughout the building. Shifts are available from 9:00 AM to 1:30 PM, 12:30 PM to 5:00 PM or end of day clean up from 4:30 PM to 6:00 PM. You choose which shift works best for your schedule.
