Big Brothers Big Sisters of Family Services of NW PA has partnered with Pfeiffer-Burleigh Elementary School and the United Way of Erie County to provide Site-Based Mentoring as part of the after-school programming. Children in grades K-3 are eligible to enroll.

If you enjoy playing games, shooting hoops, or helping with homework, then Big Brothers Big Sisters of Family Services of NW PA is a perfect fit for you. It only takes a few hours a week to make a difference in the life of a child.

Matches meet on Tuesdays starting at 2:30 pm at Pfeiffer-Burleigh Elementary School. Together they will develop a positive relationship by participating in various activities including games, arts and crafts, and sports. Each match will meet for approximately four hours each month.

Site-Based Mentoring Requirements:

  • Volunteer must be at least 18 years old
  • Commit to at least one year as a volunteer
  • Mentor a child in grades K-3 at Pfeiffer-Burleigh Elementary School

Description

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Family Services of NW PA is an evidence-based mentoring program that helps children realize their potential and build their futures by creating and supporting one-to-one mentoring relationships that ignite the power and promise of youth. The program provides adult role models to children ages 6 through 13 years old in Erie and Western Crawford Counties.

Anyone over the age of 18 in Erie or Western Crawford County can apply to become a volunteer mentor. The main requirement is a willingness to be a caring, consistent, and safe role model with a desire to have a positive impact on a child.
