Thank you for your interest in serving on the board of Fulton Montessori School (FMS).

Fulton Montessori School started as a non-profit with a mission to strengthen the children of Richmond's East End community through high quality Montessori education with a tuition offered on an afforable sliding-scale basis.

We are proud to be an example of what can happen when dedicated and committed people rally around a program that is necessary for a community. Recently, the Neighborhood Resource Center (NRC) in Fulton (Richmond, VA) decided to permanently close their Montessori preschool program effective December, 15th, 2017. The closing of this program created an urgent need for an afforable education option for young kids in Richmond's East End. Thus, under the leadership of the closing NRC preschool's decades long director, Salome Fernando, the Fulton Montessori School was created.

Our first official day of operation will be Monday, September 24. Now that the founding members have completed the initial goal of opening the schools, we are looking for committed community members to help lead the school in a positive direction and ensure long-term viability.

We are committed to ensuring you have all the information necessary to make a sound decision. Service on the FMS board can be rewarding and challenging. We are currently seeking headstrong individuals who can help move the school forward as we work to improve in the areas of recruitment, governance and fundraising. This opportunity is not just a resume builder - we need individuals who are willing to put in the time and energy to ensure our students can be successful.
