• Responsibilities

  The Preparedness Division provides appropriate preparedness programming within a community to assist community members to prepare for home fires and other disasters. This position is responsible for the overall execution of preparedness programming within the chapter/territory including:

  1. Oversee overall preparedness programming, ensuring current guidance is observed; 2. Ensure effective planning for preparedness programming; 3. Ensure adequate supplies for preparedness programming;

  4. Ensure adequate partnerships are pre-identified to address preparedness programming needs as identified in chapter/territory plans; 5. Coordinate preparedness operational plans 6. Manage expectations around preparedness capability, capacity and reporting; 7. Build preparedness capacity and capability through partnership, recruitment, training and mentoring; 8. Serve as a subject matter expert in preparedness program guidance and tools

• Time Commitment - at least 5 hours a week (can be done after work hours)
• Qualifications

  Ability to build and lead a team using a collaborative leadership style and demonstrating traits of honesty, forward looking, competence, intelligence and compassion. This coordinator will envision a team’s impact in preparedness and inspire the team into action. The coordinator will ensure the team understands how they fit into the larger DCS structure and how their actions can positively influence and support the DCS Program as a whole.

• Relationships

  Works closely with the Disaster Program Manager and the Preparedness Regional Program Lead and Chapter/Territory Coordinators from other areas to ensure coordination and support between programs.
