Our Kearny Corps is looking for a volunteer to serve as an ESL Class Teacher (Regular/ on-call as a backup) The volunteer will serve the needs of adults in the community, whose first language is not English. We want our students to feel comfortable communicating when seeking employment or when speaking with English speaking family or friends. Key Responsibilities: Prepare for English class, Teach in the class, check the homework for students, Location: The Salvation Army Kearny Corps 443 Chestnut Street Kearny, NJ 07032 Supervisor: Lt. Seoyoung Lim Length of Appointment: Oct 1st, 2018- June 5th, 2019 Time Commitment: Class hours + 15 mins before & after class Schedule (days and times needed): Mondays and Wednesdays 6:45 pm - 8:45 pm (Class time 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm) Qualifications & skills needed: Experience in teaching the English Language would be beneficial, Bi-lingual in Spanish and English would help students’ understanding, committed for a whole academic year, have a passion for service and volunteer Benefits: Volunteer certification recognized by the Salvation Army Kearny Corps, Reference for career If you are available for this volunteer opportunity please give me a call at 908-851-8362

Description

The Salvation Army New Jersey Division has been assisting New Jersey residents since 1880. Services and programs include food for the hungry, companionship to the elderly and ill, clothing and shelter for the homeless, food pantry/feeding programs, opportunities for underprivileged children, relief for disaster victims, assistance for the disabled and many more services for those in need.

The Salvation Army New Jersey Division currently has 28 Corps Worship & Community Centers throughout the State, 65 Service Units, adult rehabilitation centers, a residential camp and an active Emergency Disaster Services program.
