  • 145 people are interested

Asian Women’s Home, the domestic violence and human trafficking program at Asian Americans for Community Involvement (AACI) is seeking support at the shelter. Help is needed in a number of ways including: counseling, advocacy, intervention, and support to meet the needs of survivors and their families. Help is needed especially during the weekdays from Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Support during the evenings and weekends is also appreciated.

Our shelter provides a safe haven creating pathways out of domestic violence, human trafficking, and homelessness toward safe and stable lives by offering emergency shelter, housing, life changing support services and community advocacy. We are seeking individuals to be shelter volunteers for 4 - 10 hours a week to support with hotline calls, shelter operations, and providing assistance to our clients.

**Note: Due to the nature of our program and the population we work with, volunteer applicants who are interested in working directly with shelter residents must meet the following requirements:

  • Completion of the California State-mandated 40-hour Domestic Violence Advocacy Training
  • Pass the Live Scan Fingerprinting Background Check
  • Submit a TB test result

A strong and vibrant organization consists of community members with unique attributes from various ethnicities, races, gender identities, sexual orientations, socioeconomic backgrounds, immigration statuses, and abilities. AACI Asian Women’s Home encourages you, as an integral part of our community to contribute your individual experience. We will work together to support survivors of domestic violence and to end abuse. We accept applications on an on-going basis.
