Rocky Mountain Village is a fully adaptive Easterseals camp located in the beautiful Rocky Mountains of Colorado. When our summer camps are not in session, we run monthly weekend camps for people of all ages with disabilities. During these respite camps, our campers have the opportunity to escape to the mountains, be surrounded by friends, and gain confidence by participating in a wide-range of camp activities. These weekends also give our campers' caregivers a vital opportunity to recharge.
We depend on the support of volunteer camp counselors to make our weekend camps possible. We ask that volunteers be at least 16 years of age, pass a background check and come with an open, accepting attitude. As camp counselors, your job would be to provide emotional and physical support to our campers (this might include help with personal tasks like using the restroom, showering, eating etc.).
Volunteers receive meals and accommodations while here, and they get to make a huge impact in the lives of those they are supporting! Camps typically begin at dinner on Friday and run until noon on Sunday.
If you'd like to learn more, or are interested in helping out at any of our respite camps, please contact our Program Director Ashley Bordenet at abordenet@eastersealscolorado.org.
Our respite camp dates are as follows:
March 13-15 - Coming Up for Air (for children with disabilities and their families)
March 27-29 - Coming Up for Air (for foster and adoptive children and their families)
April 16-19 - Talking with Technology: First Steps (a camp for children who are learning to use augmentative communication devices and their families)
