Want to make a kid's day? Need volunteer or community service hours?

VOLUNTEER AT PUMPKINFEST!

As the East Allegheny Community Council Pumpkinfest enters its 29th year, we need all of the volunteer support we can get. We are looking for volunteers to help with a myriad of tasks on October 13th and 14th. Pumpkinfest is a beloved and longstanding event that provides children of all socioeconomic statuses a chance to just be a kid for the day.

All activities will take place at Allegheny Commons Park East, at the corner of East Ohio Street and Cedar Avenue on Pittsburgh's Northside. See below for more information regarding specific volunteer tasks:

Friday, October 13, 2023

Set-Up: 5pm - 8pm

- Set up small tents

- Set up tables, chairs and bike fencing throughout the park

- Unload supply trucks

Saturday, October 14, 2023

Set-Up: 9am - 12pm

- Set up tables, chairs, and signage throughout the festival grounds

- Unload and set up pumpkins in our Pumpkin Patch

- Set up games and other activities as needed

Games and Activities: 12pm - 5pm

- Explain to each child the roles of the game

- Give each child a game piece to use for specific game

- Pass out candy to each child who participates in the game

- Assist with keeping children in line while waiting to take their turn

- Monitor game station and supplies

- Mark off children’s fun pass, if working a designated fun pass activity

Clean-Up: 4:45pm - 7:45pm

- Collect all game pieces and bring to central location to be loaded on truck

- Fold tables and chairs and bring to central location; load on truck

- Take down all tents and bring to central location

- Clean up all debris and throw away in proper receptacles

- Rake grounds for loose items and dispose all garbage
