Giving Hope KC has volunteering opportunities Tuesdays 5:30-8:00, Thursdays 11:00-1:00 and Saturdays 8:30-1:15. Please indicate when you would like to volunteer in your response. Connecting with other people to provide help and support to people at Giving Hope KC. Assisting people through a customer choice food pantry to choose supplemental food for their diet. Stocking shelves with food. Cleaning up cardboard boxes. Smiling at people. Taking groceries to customer's cars and loading them in the car. Carrying heavy boxes at times. Standing for 2 or more hours on concrete and asphalt. Working without air conditioning or heating; please dress for the weather outside even though Giving Hope KC is an indoor pantry.

To give glory to God and to promote human dignity. Giving Hope KC is a client choice food pantry which meets needs of the people of Wyandotte, Leavenworth and Johnson Counties.

Description

Giving Hope Inc. was founded in New Orleans after hurricane Katrina. The vision and love that fueled Giving Hope New Orleans was brought to Kansas City by the Premier Auto Group in February of 2018. Giving Hope KC began providing supplemental nutrition to the people of Wyandotte County every Tuesday evening and Saturday morning. Giving Hope KC is a client choice pantry. Volunteers assist customers in selecting food, carrying the food to their car and stocking to replenish the pantry shelves. You will need to dress for the weather as to building area is not climate controlled; also, we walk outside to help customers so rain wear is a must if it's raining. Wear good shoes to care for your feet. Eliminating hunger in Wyandotte county is possible. Help us continue in this endeavor.
