Candlelighting Ceremony
It's Better to Light One Candle Thank to Curse the Darkness.

Candlelighters Annual Candlelighting, awareness and Resource Fair for families who have a child with cancer or lost a child to cancer is seeking volunteers to help set up for the event in the Inspiration Garden located between Diamond Children's Entrance (old entrance) and the Banner Parking Garage. September is childhood cancer awareness month and families join in the candlelighting to remember and honor their children battling cancer or sickle cell disease. Volunteers will help serve pizza, cold water, light candles for participants and fold chairs and tables at the conclusion of the event.

Candlelighters supports, serves and advocates for children and adolescents with cancer and other blood disorders, their families, long term survivors, bereaved families, and the professionals that care for them.

*Provide guidance in coping with childhood cancer's effect on a child, parent, siblings, and family

*Identify patient and family needs so that medical and social systems respond adequately

*Are an emotional support system of second families

Candlelighters is a voice in our community for pediatric cancer families and survivors to the general public, the medical community, government, schools, employers and the media.
