Environmental Action/Community Theater-Art Interns work on Earth Celebration's Ecological City-A Comunity-Based Arts and Environmental Action Project, applying our pioneering creative cultural organizing strategies on the Lower East Side of New York City to bring together and celebrate ecological sustainability and climate solutions to mitigate impacts of flooding, run-off, carbon pollution and the consequences of climate change.

Seeking interns with skills, interest and background: civic engagement, community outreach, advocacy/activism, theatrical/arts/event production, logistics management, graphic and web design, social media, photography/video and interest in the arts, community organizing, environmental, urban planning activism and climate issues.

100 hour minimum time-commitment per semester / minimum 4 hours per week / September-December (Fall Semester) & January - May (Spring Semester)

Earth Celebrations is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to fostering ecological awareness through the arts. Since 1991 Earth Celebrations has been collaborating with Lower East Side gardeners to preserve their magnificent network of over 50 community gardens through innovative and creative projects. Earth Celebrations programs include:theatrical pageants, artist residencies, art exhibitions, video programs,web-site, and educational art & ecology workshops for youth and adults, through various neighborhood schools, community, centers, and gardens.
