Opera NOVA, a non-profit opera company based in Arlington, VA since 1962, is looking for an archivist to manage photos and videos made at its events. It is important that we have a record of these events for reasons including publicity, the website and social media, and company and Board analysis. We want to record our history as best as possible. The archivist will receive photographs and video recordings from our photographers and videographers, and create and manage a media library others in the company can access at any time. Great opportunity for amateur photographers and college students/retirees. Learn on the job. If interested, please contact the Opera NOVA offices at mcdm1@verizon.net or (703) 536-7557.

Mission Statement

Opera NOVA works to bring the joy of opera to the local community and develop regional support for the performing arts by fostering an appreciation for local theater across generations.

Description

Opera NOVA was founded in 1992 as a volunteer-based, non-profit charitable organization to bring the joy of opera to the local community and develop regional support for the performing arts by fostering an appreciation for local theater across generations.

The Guild is incorporated in the Commonwealth of Virginia and has been recognized by the IRS as a 501 (c) (3) entity.

Over the years, Opera NOVA has offered major financial support for an annual family opera that is attended by school children during week day performances and by children with their families and community-based organizations on weekends. Because of our efforts, 50,000 school-aged children, many of whom would not have the opportunity otherwise, have attended an opera. The performances not only offer children a unique opportunity to hear an opera sung in English, but they also learn about various opera and theatre techniques, from special effects to the intricacies of set and lighting design.
