This year’s big event will be held Saturday, March 2, 2019 at the UIC Forum, located at 725 West Roosevelt Road Chicago, IL 60608 at the corner of Roosevelt and Halsted. Individuals and groups alike can get involved the day of the event in two different ways: by joining our Set-Up Crew or by being part of the Event Shift.
Set-Up Crew begins at 9:00 am the day of the event. Often, two shifts are utilized from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm with priority being on the morning shift from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm. Set-Up Crew is responsible for everything from centerpieces to silent auction set-up transforming the venue from a blank canvas to a black-tie ballroom.
The Event Shift begins at 5pm and ends at Midnight. Event Shift volunteer tasks typically include: guest registration, monitoring the silent auction, live auction bid spotting, raffle ticket selling, selling merchandise, and yes, even clean up.
There is no dress code requirement for Set-Up Crew. Event Shift volunteers are asked to wear all black professional attire (dresses, skirts, pants, suits) and a name tag. We ask that no jeans are worn on the floor from 5:30 pm to Midnight. A volunteer dinner is served during the Event Shift. As a general rule, volunteers are not allowed to partake in the food or beverage service in the ballroom.
