If you or someone you care about is navigating mental health challenges, becoming a mental health teacher through NAMI Vermont's Mental Illness & Recovery Workshop could be a rewarding way to share your experiences and knowledge. This program is designed for family, friends, peers, and community members who wish to learn and educate others about mental health conditions, recovery processes, treatment options, and available resources in Vermont.
The workshop, typically a one-day session from 9 AM to 4:30 PM, is led by two individuals with personal connections to mental illness-either as a family member, close friend, or someone living with a mental health challenge. They provide insights into evidence-based practices and share their experiences to foster a deeper understanding of mental health.
Participants are expected to attend a free one-day training provided by NAMI Vermont and commit to conducting at least one workshop per year, usually on a Saturday. This commitment is a chance to make a tangible difference in the community by fostering understanding, support, and resilience.
To get involved, you can find more information and pre-register for the Mental Illness & Recovery Workshop by joining the MIR Workshop waitlist at namivt.org. Your story and involvement can be instrumental in transforming how mental health is perceived and supported in your community. Consider volunteering with NAMI Vermont's program today and be a part of this vital change.
