Join the New York - New Jersey Trail conference for a day devoted to the stewardship of the Appalachian Trail on Friday, September 21 from 9 a.m to 2 p.m.
The Bear Mountain Trail Crew invites you to come out for a few hours and get a taste of what trail building's all about. The group will meet at the top of Bear Mountain (near Perkins Tower) on the original section of the Appalachian Trail, and show you how we're working to create an awesome new trail experience in Bear Mountain State Park.
Be sure to wear long pants, sturdy boots, and work gloves. Also bring sunscreen, bug spray, snack, plenty of water for the day, and a lunch to eat out on the Trail.
Feel free to stay and help out until the crew finishes their workday at 5:00!
Connect with nature, meet great people, and make a difference. No experience is necessary, but space is limited!

Description
Appalachian Trail (A.T.) is a project built on civic engagement. It exists because people like you step up and help out in a variety of ways, outdoors or inside. Activities can be physical (such as Trail work or boundary maintenance), creative (like contributing photography or writing), or organizational (like planning or leading activities).
Volunteers gain new skills through their work. Whether you volunteer because you enjoy time in nature, want to forge new friendships, or appreciate having a deeper connection to a place you hold in high regard, we are glad you are here.
There are a variety of ways to contribute your talents and your time.
